About the Firm

 

Insight SRI  is a private firm exploring ways to challenge the status quo and create new business opportunities through technology.  Privately owned, the firm works with firms large and small to help them create new markets and realise business opportunities. Clients have included venture capital firms, start-ups, and large ‘blue chip’ technology companies. We came to aviation and runway scanning in 2007, asked to help technology providers develop a quantitative understanding  of both the size of the market, and of the potential benefits of their solutions. This report is an outgrowth  of that early work.

About the Author

Author Iain McCreary is the Managing Director of Insight SRI, a UK and US consulting firm. Somewhat to his own surprise, he has become the acknowledged world expert on the economic cost and statistics associated with Foreign Object Debris and other aspects of runway safety.

Once a nuclear physicist at the US Department of Energy Los Alamos National Laboratory, he joined the strategy practice at Accenture UK, first working in the telecoms sector (various interim management roles, including ‘Head of Internet’ for #2 telecom operator NTL) before rebuilding Accenture’s UK Aerospace & Defence practice. He went on to found a number of start-ups before becoming the youngest ever CEO of a UK Venture Capital firm.
